Does it require a neutral wire?
Yes. The ZBMINIR2 requires a neutral wire (N) at the switch location. Most SA homes have neutral available in the ceiling junction box. If your wall switch box doesn't have neutral, you may need an electrician to run one from the ceiling, or consider the ZBMINIL2 (no-neutral version, 6A max).
What Zigbee hub do I need?
Compatible SONOFF hubs: NSPanel Pro, ZB Bridge-P, ZB Bridge-U, iHost, ZBDongle-P, ZBDongle-E. Third-party: SmartThings Hub V3, Amazon Echo Plus 2nd Gen, Echo 4th Gen, Philips Hue Bridge. For Home Assistant: any Zigbee coordinator (ZBDongle-E, ConBee, etc.) with ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT.
What is Detach Relay Mode?
When enabled, the physical wall switch no longer controls the relay (power to the light). Instead, the switch sends a Zigbee command that can trigger smart scenes, while the relay stays powered. This keeps smart bulbs online and prevents them going "unavailable" when someone toggles the wall switch off.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes — fully supported via ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT. Full local control, no cloud required. Exposes switch entity plus power-on state, detach mode, and more.
Can I use it during load shedding?
The device needs mains power to operate. During load shedding it will be off. When power returns, the Power-On State setting determines behaviour (On, Off, or Restore). Delay Power-On can stagger restarts to prevent surge damage.
What's the difference vs the ZBMINIL2 (no-neutral)?
The ZBMINIR2 requires neutral but supports 10A (2,400W). The ZBMINIL2 doesn't need neutral but is limited to 6A and is optimised for low-wattage LED loads (≥3W). Choose the ZBMINIR2 for higher loads; the ZBMINIL2 for retrofits without neutral wire.
