What is a "gang"?
A gang refers to how many independent light circuits the switch controls. A 1-gang controls 1 light, a 2-gang controls 2 separate lights, etc. Each gang has its own touch zone on the glass panel and can be controlled independently.
Where do I install the capacitor?
At the light fitting — NOT at the switch. Connect the included capacitor on the L1 circuit at the light fixture (e.g. on one of your downlight fittings). A wiring diagram is included. Installing the capacitor on the switch itself may damage the switch.
Does it work without neutral wire?
Yes! This switch is specifically designed for no-neutral wiring. It uses a Live + Load configuration with the included capacitor to complete the circuit. Perfect for older SA homes that don't have neutral at the switch box.
Does it need a hub?
No. Connects directly to your 2.4 GHz WiFi router. Control via the free eWeLink app. No additional hub, bridge, or gateway needed.
Can I use it with LED downlights?
Yes, for on/off switching. Note this is NOT a dimmer — it turns lights fully on or off. Each gang needs a minimum connected load. If using very low-wattage LEDs, the capacitor helps ensure clean switching.
Does it fit SA wall boxes?
This is a US/EU standard switch plate. It covers the wall box and mounts directly. Measure your existing switch cutout to confirm fit. The glass panel covers most standard openings.
Does it work during load shedding?
No — requires mains power. Once power returns, the switch reconnects to WiFi automatically and resumes normal operation. Timer schedules are retained.
Can each gang be controlled separately?
Yes! Each gang appears as a separate channel in the eWeLink app and can be toggled, timed, and voice-controlled independently.
