❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the M3 for the Aqara U300 lock?

The U300 uses Thread — the M3's Thread border router connects it, and also unlocks the extra features in the Aqara Home app. (An Apple TV 4K or HomePod can also act as a border router for Matter-only use.)

Can it replace my older Aqara hub?

Yes — the M3 supersedes earlier Aqara hubs, supports migration of devices, and adds Matter, Thread, PoE and local automations on top.

Does it work with Home Assistant?

Yes — most commonly via Matter, which exposes the hub's bridged Aqara devices to HA.
