❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Does the CT clamp cut or touch the live wire?
No. The split-core CT clamp simply clips around the live conductor. It measures current magnetically through electromagnetic induction — no wire cutting, no electrical contact. This is what makes it safe and non-invasive.
Can it switch my geyser on and off?
Not directly. The POWCT has a contactor control output — it sends a low-voltage signal to drive an external contactor (relay). The contactor then switches the high-power geyser circuit. You'll need a separate contactor rated for your geyser's current (typically 16A–25A). Your electrician will install the contactor in the DB board.
Can I monitor multiple circuits?
Each POWCT monitors one circuit (one CT clamp). To monitor multiple circuits (e.g., geyser + pool pump + lights), you'll need one POWCT per circuit. The eWeLink app shows all devices on a single dashboard.
Is it NRCS and ICASA approved?
Yes. The POWCT holds both NRCS (National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications) and ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) certification. It is legal to install and use in South Africa.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
