💡 How it connects: Power it over USB-C and plug in Ethernet or join Wi-Fi. Pair your Zigbee devices to the Bridge, then use the built-in local web console to bridge them into Matter — no app or cloud needed. Note: the web console handles setup and Matter syncing, not direct device control — you control devices from the eWeLink app or your chosen Matter platform. As with any Matter setup, remote access inside an ecosystem (e.g. Apple Home) uses that ecosystem's home hub, like a HomePod or Apple TV.

⚡ Key Features

  • Matter Bridge — Cross-Brand — brings Zigbee, Wi-Fi, BTHome and eWeLink-Remote devices into Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings and Home Assistant; even devices that don't natively support HomeKit can join the Apple ecosystem
  • Zigbee 3.0 Gateway (up to 128 devices) — build a large, reliable Zigbee mesh for sensors, switches, plugs and more; supports every SONOFF Zigbee device plus a wide range of third-party Zigbee brands
  • Local Web Matter Bridge — bridge devices over your LAN through a built-in web dashboard; no app downloads, cloud accounts or internet required, for faster setup, better privacy and local security
  • Ethernet + Dual-Band Wi-Fi — connect via RJ45 Ethernet or 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi; as the "brain" of your home, the wired Ethernet option gives the most reliable, responsive connection
  • Home Security Center — pair with Zigbee sensors and cameras to catch unusual activity, trigger up to a 90dB siren and get real-time notifications on your phone
  • Home Assistant Integration — sync Zigbee sub-devices to Home Assistant via MQTT, or push your Home Assistant devices out to Matter ecosystems through the bridge
  • One-Step Bridge Replacement — migrating from a SONOFF ZBBridge-P? Move your Zigbee devices, scenes and security settings across in one step, with no re-pairing
  • eWeLink App + Local Web — manage from the eWeLink app or the local dashboard; both can run side by side

🏠 Perfect For

Unifying Mixed Ecosystems

One bridge so your Zigbee, Wi-Fi and BTHome gear all show up together in Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home or SmartThings.

🔐

DIY Home Security

Zigbee door, motion and leak sensors plus a 90dB siren and push alerts — a self-monitored security setup with no monthly fees.

🏡

Home Assistant Users

MQTT sync brings your Zigbee sub-devices into HA, and Matter export pushes HA devices out to Apple Home, Alexa and Google.

Local, Cloud-Free Control

Local web bridging keeps working without the cloud — handy when the internet or fibre is down.

💡 Bridge vs USB dongle: A USB Zigbee dongle needs a computer or Home Assistant box running Zigbee2MQTT/ZHA. The Bridge Max is a standalone hub — it runs the Zigbee network and the Matter bridge on its own, and still links to Home Assistant if you want it to.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need another hub?
No — the Bridge Max is the hub. It runs your Zigbee network and bridges everything to Matter on its own. For remote control inside a specific ecosystem (like Apple Home), you'll still use that ecosystem's home hub — e.g. a HomePod or Apple TV — which is standard for any Matter setup.
What can it bridge into Apple Home, Alexa or Google?
Zigbee, Wi-Fi, BTHome and eWeLink-Remote devices — even ones that don't natively support HomeKit. Feature support varies by device, so check SONOFF's compatibility reference for the exact per-device details.
How many Zigbee devices can it handle?
Up to 128 for stable performance (SONOFF lab recommendation). You can add more, but responsiveness may be affected beyond that.
Does it work without the internet?
Yes. The built-in local web console lets you bridge devices over your home network with no cloud account or internet connection. (Optionally, syncing Wi-Fi/eWeLink devices can use the cloud if you want that.)
Ethernet or Wi-Fi?
Both. RJ45 Ethernet gives the most reliable, responsive connection and is recommended for a hub, but 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi works too if wiring isn't practical.
Can I move over from my old ZBBridge-P?
Yes. One-step Bridge Replacement transfers your Zigbee devices, scenes and security settings from a ZBBridge-P without re-pairing. Note: migration currently supports the ZBBridge-P only — not ZBBridge-U or iHost.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes. Sync Zigbee sub-devices to Home Assistant via MQTT, or expose your HA devices to Matter ecosystems (Apple Home, Alexa, Google) through the bridge.
